574. Provenance: Tekke tribe, Turkoman group of tribes, Turkmenistan

Size: 320 x 246 cm

Age: Circa 1930

Condition: Mostly extremely good, but there are a couple of small areas of old wear.

Notes: Classic Tekke design of somewhat regimented Tekke guls. The field is of a lovely rich madder brown/red, and there are lots of charming 'jewels' in the main border. The wool is lustrous and the weave tight - a beautiful main tribal carpet. This would be more costly if it were not for the patch of wear.
