405. A sumptuous antique Qashqa'i Runner
405. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy of Tribes, Fars Province, Southern Persia
Size: 317 x 110 cm
Age: Circa 1920
Condition: Very good.
Notes: Qashqa'i runners are few and far between, despite the fact that they require only narrow looms, and are therefore well-suited to the nomadic lifestyles of these pastoral herder-weavers. This is a real beauty, with glossy Karakul wool and all natural dyes. The colours and strong and well-saturated and the design and weave are crisp and defined.
