402. Provenance: Ersari Turkoman, Northern Afghanistan or Turkmenistan

Size: 96 x 30 cm

Age: Circa 1900

Condition: Good, only missing the original plainweave back.

Notes: Such storage bags would have been used to store implements, and would have been hung inside the 'yurt' or tribal tent. This one has only natural dyes and is very tightly woven. Such pieces would in all likelyhood have been part of a bride's dowry to the groom's family. This piece is small but perfectly-formed!
