543. an inpired palace-sized antique Tabriz
543. Provenance: Tabriz, Northwest Persia
Size: 406 x 290 cm
Age: Circa 1920
Condition: Generally good, with just some areas of lower pile.
Notes: An amazing and unusual carpet, featuring a fertile abundance of agrarian scenery. Repleat with cows, sheep, deer, birds and even geese or swans, as well as a multitude of tree varieties and flowers. Lakes and ponds add to this verdant spendour. All this could be a bit much in the wrong weavers' hands, but the pale background together with the soft natural dyes in the details make this piece an oriental delight to the senses.
