520. Provenance: Ersari tribe, Turkoman weaving group, Northern Afghanistan

Size: 286 x 126 cm

Age: Circa 1930

Condition: Minor losses at one end, fully secured but quite a few reweaves. Doesn't sit flat (differing tensions in wool/weave) which may have led to damages. Hence low price.

Notes: Classic use of the Ersari 'elephant foot' gul. Lustrous, oily wool and natural madder-based dyes lend this unusually long rug a warmth and vibrancy. The condition issues are reflected in the price.
