617. Provenance: Heriz, northwest Persia

Size: 350 x 250 cm

Age: Circa 1940

Condition: Very good, but minor colour changes from one end to other.

Notes:  Stunning Heriz carpet, with the natural dyes and rugged craftsmanship (that should be 'womanship') for which they are celebrated. Stylized, more or less geometric rendition of a floral design, in part influenced by relatively unsophisticated weave. Do not mistake this for poor construction though - these rugs are famed for their hardy, robust build. Made to last and to enjoy for generations.
