380. A remarkable antique Qashqa'i Rug
380. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy of Tribes, Fars Province, SW Persia
Age: Circa 1920
Size: 204 x 133 cm
Condition: Good. Change in hues due to natural abrush (variations in dye batches/absorption properties of hand-spun wool).
Notes: I adore the bright, niaive design and colouring of this pure tribal nomadic piece. The border is particularly splendid with a lovely pale indigo and an indigo-saffron-mix speckled green. Also noteworthy is the luscious flame-red in some of the central hooked-diamond medallions. A wonderful work of tribal art.
