516. a delightful Bachtiari tribal Persian carpet
516. Provenance: Bachtiari tribe, Western Persia
Size: 317 x 210 cm
Age: Circa 1930
Condition: Very good, with full pile. Very minor losses at ends - fully and professionally secured.
Notes: A really wonderful Bachtiari rug, full of beautifully though somewhat primitively drawn flowers and plants. The dyes in this piece are really stunning and strong, and the wool quality is of the best - shiny and glossy, giving great depth to the colours. The fact that these floral designs are woven by nomadic herders, living in some of the harshest, least verdant areas of Persia, suggests a high level wish-fulfillment.
