403. Provenance: Tekke Turkoman tribe, Turkmenistan, Central Asia

Size: 93 x 30 cm

Age: Circa 1890

Condition: Good generally but losses on one side and some very small spots of pile loss.

Notes: Such storage bags would have been used to store implements, and would have been hung inside the 'yurt' or tribal tent. This one has only natural dyes and is very tightly woven. Such pieces would in all likelyhood have been part of a bride's dowry to the groom's family. This piece is small but perfectly-formed! Despite the losses on one side, this piece is emminently collectable.
