Age: circa 1900
Condition: Even low pile. One small, crude repair, & several small patches of wear. Nonetheless this is in generally good order and is very usable.
Notes: A classic Tekke Turkoman 'Bokhara' rug, in rich mauvish red. These antique Tekkes used the natural dye, conchineal, which is made from crushed beetles (Dactylopius coccus), harvested from cacti. This is a lovely, finely woven piece.
