139. Provenance: Ersari Tribe, Northern Afghanistan.

Age: Circa 1920

Condition: excellent

Notes: A simple tribal design of repeats of the ‘elephant foot’ gul. A restrained pallette (dyes were difficult to get hold of) of natural madder and indigo. V. warm colours, beautiful ‘arbrush’, soft wool, on wool foundation.
